I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist, a certified diabetes educator, former professional dancer, breast cancer survivor and public speaker. For over 15 years I have worked as a wellness coach and nutrition counselor. Having had the experience and privilege of talking to hundreds of people throughout the years about overcoming challenges of healthy living, I have learned what tends to work and what doesn’t work for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Most of us have developed unhealthy behaviors that reflect our crazy busy lives. It’s not easy out there and we must be streetwise to survive.
When we’re in a time crunch, exercising and eating healthily are often the first things to go. We put them off until our bones get weak, our clothes don’t fit and we feel like strangers in our own bodies. I offer tools and strategies to help you take back control and stay on the right track. But taking good care of ourselves is much more than eating right and exercising. It's about loving yourself enough to make big, sometimes difficult changes of habit. Healthy living is not a trick. It’s a mind-set.
It’s about putting yourself above all others for at least a few minutes each day. We can’t eliminate all barriers, but we can figure out ways to get around some of them. We can prepare for the chaos of everyday life and focus on what we can control. I will help you get started on this journey and be with you every step of the way. We got this!
Yoga and Meditation Instructor
After many years of practicing yoga, I decided to become a Certified RYT200 teacher. It was evident in the early years of practicing yoga that it had incredible benefits on overall wellbeing, not to mention the “side effect” of stress reduction. Having a job that included lots of travel and long days, I always had yoga to steer myself back to the path of self- care, something that is often overlooked by busy working women and mothers. The physical benefits of yoga led me to a yearning to explore the spiritual aspects, I began to learn and practice meditation and am currently studying to complete my Yin Certification.
On becoming a mother late in life, I was grateful to switch gears from the corporate world and create a world where I could teach yoga part-time and be more available for my daughter. Being well aware of the luxury of making this choice, I am an advocate for women to find realistic balance in their lives. I believe just the smallest of shifts make an impact.
Women find themselves being pulled in many directions with very little, if any time, for self-care. My yoga classes are real, in that no matter how busy, experienced, inexperienced my students are, the focus is to help them discover their bodies, accept their limitations and grow in a realistic way.
Today in the West, we have a society that envisions yoga to be for a certain group of people only. This is so far from the truth. My goal is to introduce yoga in its true and healing form. Yoga is ‘Union’ of the breath, body and mind. My passion for the discipline of yoga drives me to share and guide in the joy of yoga. I truly champion the belief that, EVERYONE deserves yoga!
